Episode 10: Artemisia on my Mind
Hey Friends!
Welcome to Episode 10 and Happy Women’s History Month! For a while I’ve been wanting to dive into the lives of various historical figures I’m fascinated by and interested in. I mentioned in my book AfterLIFE, that as I restructured my life to have more free time I’ve used that to pursue my passions in history and especially art history and especially-especially Italian Art History. So, to celebrate not only the accomplishment of me getting to my 10th episode, but also Women’s History Month I’m taking time to chat a bit about Artemisia Gentileschi, the Italian Baroque Badass from Rome as well a few other things!
Please enjoy the episode. Please like, subscribe, review if you are enjoying this journey of mine. I hope it is inspiring your own journey to whatever is calling you!
Below is the Judith and Holofernes by Artemisia I talk about. I took this picture of the original in Florence at the The Uffi Gallery.
In the episode I mentioned the Artemisia work we have here in St. Louis. Check that out here.
I’m making my way though Artemisia Gentileschi and Feminism in Early Modern Europe (Renaissance Lives) if you’d like to read more.
And here’s her Wikipedia Page. Consider donating to Wikepedia if you feel you can. It is a treasure trove of information. I give a bit whenever they remind me.
