It’s The Journey
Welcome to my podcast: It’s the Journey!
You know, as in Not the destination. It’s about the process, what you learn, how you grow, who you help, and the progressive realization and waking up to who you are along the way. This is a podcast where I want to explore the means, methods, tools and examples of living on purpose, living the life we want, doing the thing things that light us up! Things that make us feel like we are alive, growing, and making a difference. I’m having so much fun with the project. I hope it is helpful and fun for you too!
Join me, will you?

Episode 66: Moving Outside the Comfort Zone with Everett Morley
I've written and talked about how our time in covid was like a collective time out for many of us, and if you've been following and listening a while you know during my timeout, I restructured a huge part of my life. I was delighted to find yet another example of someone who did this as well who wanted to share their journey with you!
Episode 65: How Do Mondays Feel Compared to Fridays?
How do you feel in your gut when you know the next day is Monday versus when it’s Friday?
If we’re not careful, we’ll spend 5 days of our lives looking forward to 2, and 40 plus years looking forward to however many years we can live in retirement. We’re taught from an early age that’s the norm.
Episode 64: Diane Marie Pisera, Founder of Italy in a Jar Candles
Saying YES to our dreams and stepping forward in that direction, even if we don't have the answers or feel ready, is SO important.
Diane Marie did just that and she shares her beautiful stories and wisdom with us here. I was inspired and so grateful for our time together, and I know you will love her story too.
Episode 63: Digging into Goals
When I graduated college and began my first job, my manager loaned a copy of a Brian Tracy seminar to me. One thing he said that stuck out to me was that fewer than 3% of adults have clear written goals for their lives, but those who did often accomplished great things. I was determined to be in that 3% and I must say that doing so has made a tremendous impact on my life.
Episode 62: What Does it Mean to be Able to Afford a House?
From time to time I see snarky comments floating around the internet with folks commenting about how they’ve been paying rent for 10 years without missing a payment, but the banks won’t qualify that person for a house. Home ownership has become one of the defining features of the American Dream and it can be quite devastating and difficult for people who see this dream as a part of life and also forever out of reach.
Episode 61: Remembering Your Why
Do you know why you do what you do every day? Why you sell a piece of your life nearly every day of the year and likely will for decades to come AND why you spend the fruits of you labor the way you do?
Episode 60: How Quality over Quantity Impacted my Professional Life
I’ve said before, nothing had a greater impact on my ability to achieve my goals than simplification. I’ve mostly focused on personal life and the benefits of fewer material things to reduce the cost and complexity of my life and how this freed up space for my growth and development.
This week I want to look at how this impacted my first business and former profession as a financial planner.
Episode 59: Be Your Own Agent of Change for the Life You Want
This week I want to dive into the fear we have of being new at something. Below is a blogpost I wrote early last year that sums up my thoughts. Thank you for reading and listening!
Episode 57: Thoughts on Financial Planning
Last year when I announced that I was exiting my career as a financial planner people were curious about two big things:
1) What was I going to do?
2) How did I know I could do it?
Pursuing What You Want vs What You Are “Supposed” to Want
Welcome to episode 56! In the episode I took time some to expand on concepts I wrote about in AfterLIFE about pursing the life we want. I’ve combined the podcast with a full blog post I wrote below.
Enjoy and feel free to comment or share.
Thank you,
Carlo

Episode 52: Grateful that Less is More
“We live in a society whose whole policy is to excite every nerve in the human body and keep it at the highest pitch of artificial tension, to strain every human desire to the limit and to create as many new desires and synthetic passions as possible, in order to cater to them with the products of our factories and printing presses and movie studios and all the rest.”
―Thomas Merton
Episode 51: Amanda Oliver, Stumbling Into the Happiness of My Life. Part 2 of 2.
Did you know your destiny when you were a child?
I always admired kids who did, and my next guest is one of those people who knew what she wanted and has been on a path towards her dream nearly all her life!
Amanda Oliver knew at the age of 4 that she wanted to be a writer…

“When setting out on a journey do not seek advice from someone who never left home.”
Rumi
I want to dive deeper into something I’ve touched on in more than one episode, and that is how friends, family, and others can poison our dreams if we let them. But not to be mean….
